WAMIA Staff

The activities of the Western Australian Meat Industry Authority are funded through charges at Muchea Livestock Centre , revenue from market information services, rentals on property managed by the Authority, and fees charged for the approval of meat processing establishments.

The Authority's financial accounting system is subject to the Financial Administration and Audit Act and a Chief Executive Officer appointed under the Public Sector Management Act manages the Authority.

Andrew Williams (Chief Executive)

Andrew joined WAMIA in February 2015 coming from a property role within Western Power. Prior to Western Power, he held a range of financial, strategic and operational roles across a number of Wesfarmers divisions over a 14 year period. He was heavily involved in the successful acquisition of Howard Smith Limited by Wesfarmers in 2001 and a number of other business improvement initiatives. Andrew’s background includes the dairy industry, the timber industry, retail, chemicals and fertilisers.

He holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Business Law), a Post Graduate Diploma in Business (Economics and Financial Management) and a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance.

 

Dave Saunders (Support Services Manager)

Dave has had 37 years in the Meat and Livestock Industry commencing work with the Department of Agriculture in 1973. Initial years were largely spent working on the BTEC program including six years based out of Wyndham.  In 1988 he was appointed part time Executive Officer of WAMIA moving to a full time position when the Authority was fully established in 1994.

Since that time, his positions have included Operations Manager, Acting Chief Executive Officer & Project and Operations Manager.  Key responsibilities have been providing executive support to the Authority, management of the former Midland Saleyards and project management of the relocation to the Muchea Livestock Centre. 

Dave has recently been appointed as Support Services Manager of WAMIA.  Dave is a member of the Sheep & Cattle National Livestock Identification Scheme State Committees, director of the  National Saleyard Quality Assurance Program, President Livestock Saleyards Association of Australia and Management Committee Member of Livestock Logistics WA.
